Microsoft is rolling out a major update to Copilot for Windows, giving the AI assistant the power to link directly with both personal and third-party cloud services. The feature is now available for Windows Insiders, marking a significant step toward turning Copilot into a unified digital assistant capable of searching across multiple accounts.
Through the new integration system, users can connect services such as OneDrive, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts to Copilot. Once linked, the AI can surface relevant information based on natural language prompts. For example, users can ask Copilot to find an old email, retrieve meeting details, or locate specific notes stored in their cloud drives, all from one place.
This optional integration can be enabled via the Copilot app’s Connectors section in Settings, where users choose which platforms to link. Microsoft says this update aims to eliminate data silos and simplify how information is accessed across devices and ecosystems.

Smarter File Creation and Export Tools
The update also introduces a powerful document creation and export feature, expanding Copilot’s practical use beyond conversation and search. Users can now ask Copilot to create or export documents in formats like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF directly from a chat.
Longer responses automatically trigger an export button, appearing by default for texts exceeding 600 characters, allowing users to instantly send AI-generated content to a preferred format. For instance, a simple instruction such as “Create an Excel file from this table” or “Export to Word” converts the content into a fully editable document, saving time and improving workflow efficiency.
Rolling Out to Windows Insiders
This new capability, available with Copilot version 1.25095.161.0 and higher, is being gradually distributed through the Microsoft Store across all Insider Channels. Microsoft is actively collecting feedback to refine functionality before a wider public release.
The update represents another step in Microsoft’s strategy to position Copilot as a core productivity layer in Windows, bridging apps, accounts, and devices through AI-driven automation and intelligent search.
