ROB FINNERTY (HOST): On another note on this Tuesday, did you hear about this? If you haven’t, stay.
A pretty wild story involving members of the Trump administration — and the media are trying to frame this like it’s a bad thing, but we actually think this is a good thing — if it’s true and it sounds like it’s true.
Apparently, two members of the Trump administration almost got into a fistfight at a swanky club in Georgetown Donald Trump, Jr., founded called The Executive Branch Club, which is essentially a place where business can be done that’s not the White House. During Trump’s first term, it was the Trump Hotel in D.C. Now it’s this club in Georgetown.
According to Politico, 63 year-old Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent went over to 37 year-old Housing director Bill Pulte and asked him why he was badmouthing him to the president. Bessent reportedly saying, why the f are you talking about me to the president, f you, I’m going to punch you in your f-ing face. And when someone from the club came over to try and de-escalate the situation, Bessent said, it’s either me or him. You tell me who’s getting the f out of here. Secretary Bessent then suggested the two men go outside saying, quote, I’m going to f-ing beat your a-s-s.
Imagine Mayor Pete having that kind of exchange with Jake Sullivan. Think about that. And we don’t know if maybe cocktails were involved. Maybe they were to blame. Maybe it was bad ice. We don’t know. I wasn’t there.
…
So we don’t know what’s going on here or why it’s always Scott Bessent who seems to be involved, like the new John Wayne of the West Wing, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The president loves Scott Bessent, and we kind of like that people with a pulse are working in the white House once again, but that is something that we will watch.
