North Texas felon indicted for possessing machine gun, feds say

Federal officials indict Xavier Donnell Porter for unlawfully possessing a machine gun in Texas.

GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas — A convicted felon from North Texas has been indicted for unlawfully possessing a machine gun, according to federal officials.

Xavier Donnell Porter, 32, of Grayson County, was named in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury this week in the Eastern District of Texas charging him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition and possession of a machine gun.

The indictment alleges that on Dec. 5, 2024, Porter was found in possession of a machine gun, the Justice Department said. The DOJ added that further investigation revealed Porter is a convicted felon and prohibited by federal law from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition.

This case was part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime, the department said in a release.

If convicted, Porter faces up to 15 years in federal prison.
