DALLAS — Off-duty Dallas police officers shot and injured a man overnight while responding to a disturbance in a parking lot, officials said.

Around 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Dallas police officers were working an off-duty job when they were notified of a disturbance in a parking lot in the 10700 block of Finnel Street in northwest Dallas, according to Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux.

When the off-duty officers confronted the individuals involved, a shot was fired between the two individuals, and one person was hit, Comeaux said.

Officers identified and pursued the suspect and repeatedly told him to drop his gun, he said. The suspect did not drop his gun and the officers fired a round, hitting the suspect, Comeaux said.

After another short pursuit and struggle, the suspect was taken into custody with no further incident, police said. Police sources said the suspect is expected to survive. No officers were injured in the pursuit, Comeaux said.

The Office of Community Police Oversight and the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office were notified of the incident, Comeaux said.
