Possible listeria contamination: Sam’s Club recalls frozen dried fruit nationwide

The recall covers products sent out to stores between July 1 and July 25 in more than 40 states.

WASHINGTON — Bags of Maker’s Mark-brand frozen dried fruit, sold at Sam’s Club stores nationwide, are being recalled for possible bacterial contamination.

Doehler Dry Ingredient Solutions, LLC, based in Cartersville, Ga., issued the recall after internal testing revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes bacteria in certain boxes of its dried fruit variety packs.

Specific testing found the bacteria in 15-count boxes of the Member’s Mark Freeze Dried Fruit Variety Packs with UPC code 1 93968 50900 2.

Affected products will have LOT/MFG CODES between 25175 and 25206, and Use By Dates between 06/24/2027 and 07/25/2027.

The recall covers products sent out to stores between July 1 and July 25 in more than 40 states, as well as Puerto Rico. The fruit is packaged in foil pouches inside a corrugated box, with lot numbers and expiration dates printed on the bottom of the case.

What is Listeria monocytogenes?

While no illnesses have been reported, Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, called listeriosis.

The infection is especially dangerous for young children, elderly adults and people with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms may include fever, severe headache, nausea, stiffness, abdominal pain and diarrhea. For pregnant women, infections can lead to miscarriages or stillbirths.

What to do if you have frozen fruit included in the recall

Consumers who purchased the affected fruit should not eat it. Instead, the product should be discarded or returned to any Sam’s Club store for a full refund.

Consumers with questions can contact Doehler Dry Ingredient Solutions’ customer service line at 770-387-0451, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern.
