Alix Lapri, the actress known to fans as Effie from “Power Book II: Ghost,” is facing legal trouble in Georgia. According to DeKalb County records, the 28-year-old star was arrested earlier this month and later released.
Court filings confirm Lapri is facing two misdemeanor charges — cruelty to children in the third degree and disorderly conduct. In Georgia, cruelty to children in the third degree applies when a child is present to witness or hear acts of violence or family disputes. The law is designed to protect children from the emotional harm that can result from being exposed to these situations. Disorderly conduct, on the other hand, covers a wide range of behavior. This includes fighting, violent or disruptive actions, or using obscene and abusive language in public. Both are considered misdemeanor offenses under Georgia law.
