Samsung practically invented the foldables game, but lately, its updates have felt more like cautious steps than bold leaps. With the Galaxy Z Flip7, the company finally dials the excitement back up, and yes, it’s the blue colour variant that stole my heart. It’s gorgeous. It’s also the first Flip in years that feels like it’s made meaningful changes, thanks largely to a cover display that’s not just bigger, but actually useful.
That 4.1-inch Flex Window wraps around the cameras like it’s always belonged there. It’s bright, sharp, 120Hz smooth, and, most importantly, makes you want to use it. Reading notifications is easier, typing is less cramped, and quick tasks like replying to texts or checking Google Maps can be done without flipping the phone open. I loved propping it in tent mode with Netflix running while cooking, or chatting with Gemini like it was a tiny AI assistant in my pocket.

But here’s the rub: the hardware is ready, the software is not. Out of the box, you’re stuck with a small set of cover screen–friendly apps. Unlocking more requires diving into Samsung’s Good Lock playground, and even then, performance is hit-or-miss.
Under the hood, the Flip7 runs Samsung’s Exynos 2500, and while it’s not a Snapdragon 8 Elite powerhouse like the Fold7, it’s more than capable for the Flip’s lifestyle-first vibe. Browsing, streaming, maps, even light multitasking? Really smooth. Plus, it ships with Android 16 and Samsung’s promise of seven years of updates, so this thing’s future-proofed till 2032.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 sticks with the same camera hardware as last year: a 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP selfie shooter. In bright daylight, shots come out vibrant, balanced, and detailed, ready for instant social media posting. That said, if you’re after jaw-dropping photography, this isn’t the phone for it. The ultrawide is serviceable, and the front-facing selfie camera underwhelms. Zoom is offered up to 10x in 12MP mode and 5x in 50MP mode, but quality dips into noisy territory past the 5x mark. Portrait mode can misjudge edges, while low-light images, especially from the ultrawide, tend to show soft details and noise. Video fares better, delivering solid 4K at 60fps with dependable stabilization.
One unique perk of the Flip7’s design is its Flex Mode camera experience. Being able to vlog or take selfies with the main cameras via the cover display is genuinely fun and something slab phones simply can’t match. In the end, the Flip7’s cameras are decent, but if photography is your top priority, you’re better off looking at the Galaxy S25 series.
Battery life? It’s a one-day phone, but the 4,300mAh cell is a noticeable step up from last year. Stick to the cover display for lighter tasks and you can stretch it. Charging, however, is stuck in 2020, 25W wired takes around 80 minutes for a full top-up, and wireless is even slower.

Still, when you combine the sleek design, the feather-light feel in hand, the head-turning blue finish, and that genuinely useful cover display, the Flip7 becomes the most fun phone I’ve used all year. It’s not perfect, slow charging and software quirks keep it from greatness, but if you want a foldable that’s equal parts style statement and everyday companion, this is the one to get.
