Sen. Angela Alsobrooks, D-Md. tested positive for Covid-19 on Aug. 14, according to her Washington Senate Office. Out of an abundance of caution, the first-term Maryland senator cancelled planned events at Chesapeake College as well as an appearance at the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) conference in Ocean City on Aug. 15.
Alsobrooks on Aug. 6 called on Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy to resign or be fired, after Kennedy reportedly cancelled $500 million in vaccine related projects.
“RFK continues to prove he’s a threat to the health and well-being of every American citizen,” Alsobrooks.
The Maryland Democrat has been a leading voice in opposition to Kennedy, filing a resolution of disapproval against him and hosting a “sick of it” rally in May with more than 250 Maryland residents to demonstrate strong disapproval of the health secretary’s leadership and the direction of America’s health agenda under his guidance.
Alsobrooks is no stranger to Covid-19 having contracted the virus previously in December 2021. Prince George’s County, where Alsobrooks served as county executive from 2018-2024, faced disproportionately high numbers of coronavirus cases throughout the pandemic.
