Sharon Osbourne broke her silence after Ozzy’s death, thanking friends for their support during her family’s grief.
WASHINGTON — Sharon Osbourne is speaking out following the death of her husband, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne.
In her first public comments since announcing his death earlier this week, the 72-year-old thanked friends and fans for their support.
Ozzy Osbourne died Tuesday at age 76 after a years-long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” a family statement on Osbourne’s Instagram read. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Since the announcement, a wave of tributes has poured in from across the entertainment world. Black Sabbath posted, “Ozzy Forever.” Elton John remembered him as “a dear friend and a huge trailblazer,” calling him one of the funniest people he’d ever met. Actor Jason Momoa, who hosted Ozzy’s final performance earlier this month, also paid tribute, writing, “Love you @ozzyosbourne. So grateful. RIP.”
Sharon Osbourne has now responded to several of the social media tributes, including one from Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, who shared a photo of himself with Ozzy and called the late Black Sabbath singer “a great man – a true legend.” Sharon replied, “Bless you.”
She also left a message for BBC Radio 1 DJ Jack Saunders who left a tribute live on air, commenting, “Jack thank you for your tribute to Ozzy tonight, bless you.”
The comments come after a video shared by Kelly Osbourne also resurfaced this week, showing a quiet morning at home just two days before Ozzy’s death. In the clip, posted to her Instagram Stories, Ozzy is seen sitting at the kitchen table wearing headphones and looking up from a tablet as Kelly says good morning. He smiles and greets her and her followers with a gentle “Good morning.”
The video shows Ozzy spending time with Kelly and her young son Sidney, capturing a peaceful moment at home in what would be one of his final public appearances.
