Soulja Boy has been released from jail after prosecutors declined to press charges against the rapper after he was arrested for possession of a gun.
The “Crank That” star spent two nights in custody before it was decided he would not have a case to answer.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement: “A case was declined due to insufficient evidence.”
In response to the release, Soulja Boy wrote “first day out,” on his Instagram Stories.
Soulja Boy was pulled over in a traffic stop in Los Angeles where he was the passenger in a vehicle.
Police did not reveal what prompted the traffic stop, who was driving the vehicle or why a search was conducted.
Soulja Boy was previously convicted of carrying a loaded gun in 2014.
He has faced a number of other legal issues in recent years including being found liable for rape earlier in 2025.
