The Dallas Stars re-signed Colin Blackwell to a two-year, $1.55 million contract after a strong postseason performance.
DALLAS — Another Stars player is running it back with Texas Hockey.
On Tuesday, the team announced it has re-signed forward Colin Blackwell to a two-year, $1.55 million contract. Blackwell made a name for himself in Dallas this postseason, scoring a pivotal overtime goal against the Colorado Avalanche in Game 2 in the first round of the playoffs.
“Colin was a valuable part of our forward depth last season, and we are excited to have him back with our organization,” said Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill. “His versatility on the ice and reliability on the penalty kill makes him a valuable asset to our team, and we are looking forward to seeing him on the ice in the Victory Green this year.”
Blackwell posted 17 points (6-11—17) in 63 regular-season games with the Stars last season, setting a career high in assists.
The 5-foot-8 forward made his way to Dallas in the off-season last year and has been a bit of a journeyman in the NHL. In his seven years in the league, Blackwell hasn’t stuck with a team for more than two seasons.
With the two-year deal inked, he could serve his longest tenure here in North Texas.
It’s been an active offseason for the Stars so far. Nill, who recently won his third-straight GM of the Year award, has facilitated deals for Jamie Benn, Matt Duchene, Jake Oettinger, Wyatt Johnston, retaining key talent and bringing in some new(ish) blood.
