Hello Friend,
Perfection is a dead end. The journey for your purpose is endless, but the path to your destiny is simple: be ready when your moment comes.
I saw this in action with D-Nice. He wasn’t the best DJ, but he followed his intuition. He set up his equipment and started playing. Soon, thousands of people were tuning in. In a time that felt frightening and uncertain, his Instagram parties made us all feel connected. He didn’t wait for permission or the perfect moment. He was ready, and that made all the difference.
Too often, we scroll, looking for answers from people we think are smarter, richer, or more put-together than us. That belief is part of a system. Comparison is how the world makes money. They study our habits, our insecurities, and create products and experiences to feed them
But when we step back and focus on ourselves, we realize our greatest power is self-acceptance. Knowing who you are and letting go of the programming you’ve carried allows you to reclaim your energy, focus, and creativity.
I know this from my own life. I never dreamed of becoming a hairstylist. It was the only program I could see myself doing from a list my father gave me. Could you see me as a welder or an auto mechanic? Absolutely not. Hair opened doors I never imagined. I worked with the Isley Brothers, Debbie Turner, Miss America, and even produced Marla Gibbs’ CD release party. I traveled the world, built a career, and yet I came to a fork in the road. I asked myself the same question I ask you now: Is this what I want my life to look like in the next five years?
When I looked closer, I saw the common thread in my work. Whether it was giving a haircut, producing a photoshoot, or conducting an interview, I was supporting women in recalibrating how they see themselves. That has been my purpose all along.
Too often, our passions get pushed aside. One day, I’ll publish that book. One day I’ll perform on stage. One day, I’ll open that agency. The answer isn’t out there. It is within you. Tap into the silence. Ask yourself the tough questions. Rediscover the dreams that have been waiting for you.
Yes, the world is loud and overwhelming. But the key is to focus on your world. Step away from social media. Turn off the news. Start exploring the ideas and dreams inside you. Like Glinda said to Dorothy in The Wiz, it has been with you all along.
It’s time to ease on down your road and be ready for your moment. Your purpose is waiting, and it has always been inside you.
