Studio Tea? Tank Speaks Out On Recent Aaliyah Collab, Claims It Was Released Behind His Back (VIDEO)

When a legend like Aaliyah is involved, you know the stakes are high. And, Tank just made it clear he’s not vibing with how things went down on his recent posthumous collaboration. Tank Speaks Out About Aaliyah Collab

When it comes to handling a legacy, respect isn’t optional — and, Tank just made it clear he feels it was seriously lacking with the release of his collab with Aaliyah, ‘Gone,’ which dropped in May. He even revealed that he never signed off on the track’s final version or its visuals. Dropping a posthumous release without the blessing of one of the late icon’s closest collaborators? That’s a recipe for backlash. And, honestly, he’s not here for how it all went down.

In a recent Instagram post, Tank shared:

“The Aaliyah song you are hearing featuring myself I did out of love for her. I had concerns and I expressed them. From the track, to the vocals, to the mix, and to the visual. I STILL went forward knowing I would at least be able to approve the final products. I haven’t approved one thing you’ve heard or seen. I find out when you find out. Me thinking people had changed was my mistake and I own it! Aaliyah deserves better! My silence would imply that I support this and I can no longer.”

The Internet Is Split On This One

Some folks ran straight to The Shade Room’s Instagram to clown Tank’s fit in the visualizer — because y’all know the internet never misses a moment. Others got emotional, saying they just miss Aaliyah and wish her legacy was handled with more care. And, a good number of commenters are siding with Tank, saying he’s right and folks need to stop playin’ with Baby Girl’s name and artistry.

This Instagram user @tahm1r_215 shared, “I believe him, he one of the best we’ve seen if I’m bein honest

And, Instagram user @therealriribaby wrote, “He look like he on Grand Theft Auto

Meanwhile, Instagram user @officiallydeedee16 added, “Can they just leave Aaliyah’s music alone, matter fact cancel that album that fans been waiting on for 3 years

Then, Instagram user @ayedeebee said, “Aaliyah, baby girl I’m so sorry they’re doing you like this

Instagram user @noyaj90 commented, “This is messed up. They just wanted a coin. Played with Tank and Aaliyah

Finally, Instagram user @shaunswaggg wrote, “Smh now you’ve pissed Tank and me off. I miss you Aaliyah…fr fr
