Suspect arrested in shooting of 44-year-old man, police said

Dallas police arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting, police said.

DALLAS — Police arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a 44-year-old man, officials said. 

Officers responded to reports of a shooting around 2:35 p.m. Saturday in the 4400 block of Maple Avenue, Dallas police said in a press release. Police found Augustin Espinosa, 44, shot and unresponsive, according to the release. Dallas-Fire Rescue responded and Espinosa died at the scene, police said. 

Police arrested 43-year-old Robert Simmons in connection with the shooting, police said. He was charged with deadly conduct discharge of firearm, possession of a controlled substance and violation of bond conditions, the release states. 

Police are investigating the motives and circumstances that led up to the shooting, according to the release.
