Tax-Free Weekend Kicks Off for Back-To-School

Posted on August 9, 2025

(WBAP/KLIF) – Hundreds of thousands of students in North Texas about to start a new school year, and this weekend families can get their back to school shopping done tax free. Back to school items like shoes, clothes, school supplies, and backpacks, are all tax free both in stores and online. Computers, textbooks, specially designed clothing, football pads, and items that cost more than $100 dollars don’t qualify. The state comptroller is reminding families that you don’t need to show the retailer anything to pay tax exempt prices. The tax-free weekend runs through Sunday.
