Warriors Chase Success with Senior Grit

Legacy Academy Warriors gear up for their 2025 opener against Bracken Christian on Aug. 29, relying on senior leadership for a strong season.

BEAUMONT, Texas — With kickoff just weeks away, the Legacy Academy Warriors are preparing to open their 2025 high school football season on Aug. 29 on the road against Bracken Christian at Allen Academy.

The Warriors, who compete in six-man football, are aiming to build on last year’s postseason success. Despite facing challenges during the regular season, Legacy Academy still managed to make the playoffs and win a pair of games once they got there.

Head coach Shannon Smith said the team will rely heavily on senior leadership this fall to navigate another playoff push. Seniors Jackson Short and Gannon Sigler, both entering their final year with the Warriors, are expected to be key contributors on and off the field.

Smith said experience will be critical as the team looks to compete against some of the top six-man programs in the region. “We’re going to count on our seniors’ experience and leadership to guide us,” Smith said.

Short and Sigler expressed their appreciation for their teammates and the camaraderie they’ve built heading into the season. “We’re thankful for the group we’re playing with,” they said, noting the strong bonds that have developed among the roster.

While last year’s regular season presented its share of hurdles, Smith said that adversity forged a resilient group capable of competing deep into the postseason. The Warriors are now focused on translating that experience into early success this year.

The Aug. 29 matchup will be Legacy Academy’s first opportunity to showcase its speed, discipline and six-man skills. Fans will be watching to see whether the Warriors’ blend of veteran leadership and playoff experience can propel them to another strong season.
