Young rodeo competitor, parents to be reunited after devastating Texas Hill Country flood

HOUSTON — A heartbreaking journey home will take place Saturday, as law enforcement officers escort the Wilson family back to the Houston area after they lost their lives in the devastating Hill Country floods.

Jeff and Amber Wilson, along with their 12-year-old son, Shiloh, were in Kerrville for a rodeo on July 4 when catastrophic flooding swept through their campsite at HTR RV Park, according to a GoFundMe page set up by the family. Shiloh, described as a “young, spirited competitor,” was participating in the rodeo.

Family members confirmed on Friday, July 11, that Shiloh’s body had been found, according to KHOU 11’s Amanda Henderson. His parents, Jeff and Amber, had been located earlier in the week.

Jeff Wilson was a teacher in the Humble ISD, where the family made their home. Amber’s brother, Champions Fire Division Chief Dustin Ledford, has been on the ground in Kerrville since the flooding began, working with various agencies to aid in the recovery efforts.

Now, with all three members of the family accounted for, a solemn procession is planned to reunite them.

According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, the Wilsons will be escorted by Precinct 4 deputies and Humble ISD Police. The police procession will depart Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, and is expected to arrive at Kingwood Funeral Home, located at 20800 Hwy 59 N, between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

“The Wilson3 will be reunited this Saturday. God bless them and their family,” the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said in a statement.

The GoFundMe campaign notes that donations are helping support both sides of the family as they coordinate funeral arrangements and try to bring comfort to one another.

“The journey ahead is long, and the coordination and funding required are substantial,” the page says. “Your contribution to this fund will play a vital role in ensuring that the Wilson Family is honored and remembered in a manner befitting their significance in the community.”
