Dallas College receives $3.8M job training grant

DALLAS — Dallas College will receive $3.8 million grant to train the next generation of specialized workers, Gov. Greg Abbott announced. 

The Texas Workforce Commission awarded three new Skills Development Fund grants to Dallas College to provide over 1,900 new and existing workers for high-demand occupations, according to a press release from Gov. Greg Abbott. 

The three grants include: 

• $2.8 million to train 1,452 workers across plumbing, HVAC and electrical companies
• $542,524 to train 312 workers at manufacturing companies 
• $459,920 to train 230 workers at Lockheed Martin for careers in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing and more

“The more than $3.8 million in grant funding will help train over 1,900 workers in the Dallas area for good-paying careers in high-demand industries,” Abbott said. “I thank the Texas Workforce Commission for partnering with community colleges across the state to prepare hardworking Texans for the better job and bigger paycheck opportunities we provide in Texas.”
