Police said two of the suspects arrested in connection with the shooting were involved in a robbery at another motel earlier in the day.

GARLAND, Texas — Three men were arrested in connection with a shooting that killed a man in a Garland motel, police say.

According to a news release from the Garland Police Department, officers responded to the 12700 block of LBJ Freeway to reports of a shooting around 5:15 a.m. Police said the shooting happened in the parking lot of a motel.

Once officers arrived, police said they found a man in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Garland police identified the man as 48-year-old Santiago Lopez Morales, a resident of Las Vegas.

Garland detectives later identified and arrested three people in connection with the shooting, the department said in a press release. Investigators found that two of the suspects involved in the shooting were also part of a robbery at another motel earlier in the day, police said.

Yosguar Aponte Jimenez, 20, was charged with capital murder and his bond is set at $1.5 million. Jesus De Nazareth Bellorin-Guzman, 23, was charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery; his bond is set at $2.2 million. Jose Luis Trivino-Cruz, 35, was arrested for capital murder, aggravated robbery and indecent assault; his bond is set at $3.25 million.

According to police, early findings indicate that there was a disturbance in the parking lot, which eventually led to the shooting.
