Caitlin Clark injury casts doubt on her suiting up for second AAC matchup in Dallas

The Dallas Wings are hosting a second game inside the American Airlines Center after Clark missed the first game with an injury. She might miss the rematch, too.

DALLAS — The Dallas Wings are looking to host a marquee matchup inside Dallas’ American Airlines Center for the second time this season, but one of its headliners could be benched.

In June, the Wings sold out the AAC in a game against the Indiana Fever. The main draw of the event was the squaring off of No. 1 draft picks Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers, though the Fever star sat out with a groin injury.

Dallas announced a second game against Indiana inside the AAC for Aug. 1, but that same injury could keep Clark out in Dallas again.

Clark pulled out of WNBA All-Star Weekend festivities Thursday after re-aggravating that same groin injury against the Connecticut Sun at Boston’s TD Garden. Clark was a team captain for this year’s All-Star Game.

Fever head coach Stephanie White described Clark as “day-to-day” after the injury. Regardless, her absence from All-Star Weekend, which is being hosted in Indianapolis, casts doubt on whether or not she will suit up against the Wings.

Clark has been a major draw for the WNBA, selling out arenas across the country. Here in Dallas, courtside seats to catch the Fever in action are going for as high as $6,150. The cheapest seat in the house is $68, according to Ticketmaster, for upper-level seats. By comparison, center court, lower bowl tickets for the Wings vs. Dream game two days before they’re slated to play at the AAC are going for $66.

Clark will have at least five days to rest during the WNBA All-Star break. Her earliest chance to return to action will be July 22 against the New York Liberty.
