iQOO Names 25-Year-Old Vedang Vikas as Chief Gaming Officer With ₹10 Lakh Prize

Smartphone brand iQOO has named 25-year-old Vedang Vikas Chavan from Mumbai as its new Chief Gaming Officer (CGO), selecting him from a pool of over 80,000 candidates during a three-month nationwide hunt. As an eSports coach and gamer, Vedang stood out and secured a ₹10 lakh reward alongside the coveted CGO title.

The CGO 2.0 contest attracted participants from over 400 Indian cities, with applicants judged on their gameplay skills, personality, communication, and gaming knowledge. A jury panel featuring iQOO CEO Nipun Marya, Rannvijay Singha, Payal Gaming, and 8bit Thug made the final decision.

Notably, Vedang Vikas Chavan’s gaming journey began at just 10 years old, playing in local gaming cafés before eventually representing India in international PUBG PC tournaments. His competitive career took him to countries like Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Australia. Over time, he transitioned from player to coach, mentoring grassroots talent and leading teams to top finishes at prestigious eSports events.

Now appointed as iQOO’s Chief Gaming Officer, Chavan will work alongside the company’s leadership to shape its mobile gaming strategy. His role includes amplifying user experience for gamers and deepening iQOO’s involvement in India’s eSports ecosystem. In parallel, the company named Harshvardhan Singh as its official caster. Singh is a familiar face in the gaming scene, having triumphed in the Nodwin Gaming Talent Hunt three times.

This appointment is part of iQOO’s second edition of its CGO initiative, which launched in 2023 with the selection of Shwetank Pandey. Through this program, the brand not only discovers and empowers gaming talent but also solidifies its reputation among gaming-first smartphone users.

By investing in individuals like Chavan and Singh, iQOO underscores its long-term vision to blend smartphone innovation with the rapidly growing gaming culture in India. The CGO program is both a talent incubator and a strategic branding effort in a market where mobile gaming is booming.
