The Supreme Court of India, in its recent order, directed the local administration and state government in Delhi to remove strays from the streets.
The bench led by justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan chided the activists if they obstructed the purge. The apex court directed the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi), the NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Corporation), and the state government to provide shelter for the indie doggos and report the same. The shelters are to be well maintained and also equipped with CCTVs. The court remarked,
“MCD, NDMC and appropriate authorities of Noida and Gurugram—all authorities are directed to maintain a record of daily stray dogs captured and detained. However, what is important, and without which the entire exercise would go futile, not a single stray dog should be released, and if we know that this has happened, we will take stern action.”
While indie dog lovers, animal rights activists, and the internet debate with the victims and other critics, a video from the Masoodpur veterinary hospital has gone viral again. Reported by the team of Newslaundry, the video showcases the shambolic state of the dog shelters from a year ago. Per the report, the stray dogs from south Delhi were rounded up and put up in this shelter during the G20 summit. The MCD vehicle, which was used for the purpose, was also shown in the video.
The shelter shown in the report also hosts a dog sterilization center with 34 dogs on the premises. The video shows how the dogs are locked in a bare basic cell, where they just lie down the entire day. The register maintained at the center reveals the pickuparea of the dogs brought in. Locations for all the dogs in the shelter is mentioned as G20

Instead of letting the dogs free on streets.”
