Watch First Glimpses Of Tesla India’s Soon-To-Be Inaugurated Mumbai Showroom; Internet Reacts With Pothole Pics

After a decade-long wait, Elon Musk’s EV giant Tesla India is finally opening its doors in India with the inauguration of its first showroom in Mumbai’s BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex) today.

Glimpses of the EV showroom, also dubbed an “experience center,” at the Maker Maxity Mall have gone viral on social media. On July 11, Tesla India’s official page on X/Twitter posted “opening soon” graphics to create a buzz about the July 15th launch. Per reports, Tesla had already shipped five units of Model Y from the Shanghai factory.

The EV maker will not be manufacturing electric cars in the country anytime soon. Elon Musk’s satcom venture Starlink also got greenlit from the government for operation in India.

With two businesses in the country, Musk is vying for a larger slice of the Asian market. However, the pricing of the products and services might be a deterrent for the middle class to brag about associating with the Musk brand. While HNIs can flaunt their Teslas, we can settle for having a username on Elon Musk-owned X/Twitter. At least.

Reactions poured in with netizens dropping pictures of potholed Indian roads that are virtually undrivable. Another section of the internet trolled Tesla over its signboard. One user asked, “Where’s Marathi?” “Tesla needs to have a signboard in Marathi,” quipped another user. A third user jibed, “@RajThackeray देख भाई हिंदी लिखी है.” Yet another user commented, “See the quotes; most of them don’t even know the difference between script and language.”

“Funny how people often miss this, it’s pretty basic that Hindi and Marathi both use the Devanagari script,” wrote one user.
