ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A Florida deputy had to crash a party over the weekend after an alligator was found in a backyard pool.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office posted bodycam video on social media showing a deputy trying to take the gator out of a pool at a St. Augustine home with a net.
The alligator, as one may expect, snapped back and hissed at him before he was able to get the reptile out and keep him under control.
“I gotcha, you’re fine,” the deputy told the gator. “I know, you’re super mad.”
“Obviously, you grew up here,” a person at the home told the deputy.
As the deputy went to place the gator in his patrol car, it continued resisting while it’s mouth was taped shut.
“I know you’re mad,” the deputy responded. “You know what, let me buckle you in.”
The alligator was relocated to a nearby pond away from residential areas.
“ONLY IN FLORIDA,” SJCSO wrote in the social media posts.
Anyone concerned about an alligator should call Florida Fish and Wildlife’s toll-free Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-392-4286.
