CRANS-MONTANA, Switzerland (AP) — About 40 people were killed and another 115 injured, most of them seriously, during a New Year’s celebration in a Swiss Alpine bar, police said. The fire happened in the Alpine ski resort municipality of Crans-Montana, Switzerland. Attorney general of Valais Canton Beatrice Pilloud says it is too early to determine the cause of the fire. Experts have not yet been able to go inside the wreckage. Police say the fire started around 1:30 a.m. Thursday in Le Constellation. Investigators are working to determine the cause. A reception center and helpline has been established for impacted families. The community is in the heart of the Swiss Alps, just 40 kilometers north of the Matterhorn.

Lauren Sánchez seems to be the life of the party, after being spotted at some of the hottest and most exclusive Hollywood events, but it may be too much for Jeff Bezos, who only a few years old.
The newlyweds are six months fresh from their Venice wedding and have spent the fast few months traveling the world. Not only did Sánchez bring in her 56th birthday with Kris Jenner and Khloé Kardashian, but she and her billionaire beau headed out for one final winter getaway to close out 2025.

Sánchez Bezos spent the past few days in Aspen, Colorado, but decided to change in weather and scenery as the New Year approaches.
The two were spotted on Monday, Dec. 29, in St. Barts, celebrating a friend’s birthday at celebrity hotspot Nikki Beach, according to Page Six. Sánchez-Bezos ditched her winter western wardrobe and slipped on a denim mini skirt, a strapless cami top, and a hat. Her typically toned-down husband wore khaki pants and a blue polo shirt.
From the looks of the video, staff members were seen coming from another direction while dancing to music and holding a sign that read, “Happy Birthday Eleanor.” The person filming pans the room, and suddenly Sánchez rises up and stands on the couch, dancing along to the music.
Bezos, on the other hand, stayed seated but clapped his hands along to the music.
Their reactions to the celebrations seemed to have a stark contrast, as many people watching the clip suspected Bezos looked uneasy.
One person on Threads responded, “When your boss buys you a bottle of your bday but all you really want it to be at home, away from his corny a–.”
Someone else who had similar thoughts wrote, “Ditto. He’s all steroided up. He looks uncomfortable in his own skin now.”
A third person who lacked sympathy for Bezos replied to an Instagram post, writing, “Well, he knew what he wanted and that’s what he got.”
Under the New York Post’s article about the couple Sánchez was slammed for by someone insisting she’s had cosmetic enhancements: “and rumor has it her silicon never even jiggled not once, Amazing what plastic can do now a days.”

As for their exchange in public, it’s not clear if Bezos truly feels cringed by the way his wife acts or if he is just a more relaxed person in general.
This seems like their typical interaction.
Earlier this year, Sánchez and Bezos traveled to St. Tropez, where they attended a July party also attended by the likes of LeBron and Savannah James. Sánchez was seen in a viral video dancing along to Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss called “Not Like This.”
While the former journalist appeared to be enjoying herself, Bezos was seated, smiling and proudly filming her with his phone.
The following month in July, the married couple traveled to Ibiza, Spain. They were spotted in a nightclub, where Sánchez flaunted more of her signature marching dance move, while swaying her head.
Bezos was there right by her side as usual, doing his own dull sway moves instead of dancing.

Incoming Mayor Zohran Mamdani took his midnight oath of office on a centuries-old Quran, marking the first time a mayor of New York City uses Islam’s holy text to be sworn in and underscoring a series of historic firsts for the city.
The 34-year-old Democrat became mayor in a long-closed subway station beneath City Hall, the first Muslim, first South Asian and first African-born person to hold that position.
These milestones — as well as the historical Quran — reflect the longstanding and vibrant Muslim residents of the nation’s most populous city, according to a scholar who helped Mamdani’s wife, Rama Duwaji, select one of the books.
Most of Mamdani’s predecessors were sworn in on a Bible, although the oath to uphold the federal, state and city constitutions does not require the use of any religious text.
And while he has focused heavily on the issue of affordability during his campaign, Mamdani was outspoken about his Muslim faith. He frequently appeared at mosques across the five boroughs as he built a base of support that included many first-time South Asian and Muslim voters.
A look at the three Qurans that Mamdani used
Two Qurans were to be used during the subway ceremony: his grandfather’s Quran and a pocket-sized version that dates back to the late 18th or early 19th century. It is part of the collection at the New York Public Library’s Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
That copy of the Quran symbolizes the diversity and reach of the city’s Muslims, said Hiba Abid, the library’s curator for Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies.
“It’s a small Quran, but it brings together elements of faith and identity in New York City history,” Abid said.
For a subsequent swearing-in ceremony at City Hall on the first day of the year, Mamdani will use both his grandfather’s and grandmother’s Qurans. The campaign hasn’t offered more details on those heirlooms.
One Quran’s long journey to Mamdani’s hand
The manuscript was acquired by Arturo Schomburg, a Black Puerto Rican historian whose collection documented the global contributions of people of African descent. While it is unclear how Schomburg came into possession of the Quran, scholars believe it reflected his interest in the historical relationship between Islam and Black cultures in the United States and across Africa.
Unlike ornate religious manuscripts associated with royalty or elites, the copy of the Quran that Mamdani will use is modest in design. It has a deep red binding with a simple floral medallion and is written in black and red ink. The script is plain and readable, suggesting it was created for everyday use rather than ceremonial display.
Those features indicate the manuscript was intended for ordinary readers, Abid said, a quality she described as central to its meaning.
“The importance of this Quran lies not in luxury, but in accessibility,” she said.
Because the manuscript is undated and unsigned, scholars relied on its binding and script to estimate when it was produced, placing it sometime in the late 18th or early 19th century during the Ottoman period in a region that includes what is now Syria, Lebanon, Israel, the Palestinian territories and Jordan.
Abid said the manuscript’s journey to New York mirrors Mamdani’s own layered background. Mamdani is a South Asian New Yorker who was born in Uganda, while Duwaji is American-Syrian.
Identity and controversy
The meteoric rise of a Muslim democratic socialist also brought a surge of Islamophobic rhetoric, amplified by national attention on the race.
In an emotional speech days before the election, Mamdani said the hostility had only strengthened his resolve to be visible about his faith.
“I will not change who I am, how I eat, or the faith that I’m proud to call my own,” he said. “I will no longer look for myself in the shadows. I will find myself in the light.”
The decision to use a Quran has drawn fresh criticism from some conservatives. U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama wrote on social media, “The enemy is inside the gates,” in response to a news article about Mamdani’s inauguration. The Council on American-Islamic Relations, a civil-rights group, has designated Tuberville as an anti-Muslim extremist based on past statements.
Such backlash is not new. In 2006, Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, faced condemnation from conservatives after he chose to use a Quran for his ceremonial oath.
Following the inauguration, the Quran will go on public display at the New York Public Library. Abid said she hopes attention surrounding the ceremony — whether supportive or critical — will prompt more people to explore the library’s collections documenting Islamic life in New York, ranging from early 20th century Armenian and Arabic music recorded in the city to firsthand accounts of Islamophobia after the Sept. 11 attacks.
“This manuscript was meant to be used by ordinary readers when it was produced,” Abid said. “Today it lives in a public library where anyone can encounter it.”

BATON ROUGE, La. – New LSU football coach Lane Kiffin attended the No. 5 Tigers’ women’s basketball game on Thursday night as his former team — Mississippi — was taking on Georgia in a College Football Playoff quarterfinal game at the Sugar Bowl.
Kiffin and women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey emerged from the tunnel holding hands before the Tigers faced No. 11 Kentucky. Kiffin and Mulkey’s appearance on the court drew a roar from the crowd, and Mulkey raised her left hand to point at Kiffin while the pair responded by raising their joined hands in the air.
“He was very gracious to come over here and let the LSU fans acknowledge him,” Mulkey said. “They have the (transfer) portal opening tomorrow, so I know he’s working. I appreciated him coming.”
Kiffin did not bring the Tigers any luck, however, as Mulkey’s squad lost its first game of the season after starting with 14 straight wins, 80-78, when Kentucky’s Tonie Morgan hit a last-second 3-pointer.
Kiffin’s appearance at the LSU game came at just about the same time as his old team, Ole Miss, was kicking off its CFP game.
Kiffin, after accepting the head coaching job at LSU, said that he wanted to lead the Rebels through the CFP. But, Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter denied his request “despite the team also asking him to allow me to keep coaching them so they could better maintain their high level of performance,” Kiffin said in a social media post.
Kiffin’s annual salary at Ole Miss was $9 million. LSU offered Kiffin a seven-year contract with an average annual salary of around $13 million and pledged to ensure the football program has ample financial backing to pay players.
Kiffin is taking over for Brian Kelly, who was fired midseason after a 49-25 loss to No. 3 Texas A&M dropped the team to 5-3 overall, 2-3 in the Southeastern Conference.
Kelly went 34-14 with the Tigers, even taking LSU to the 2022 SEC title game. But LSU did not qualify for the College Football Playoff in his first three seasons.

2025 was a wild year for celebrity beefs, with stars trading insults online over everything from personal grudges to professional rivalries. Some clashes turned especially messy, with dirty blows that kept fans glued to their screens for hours, days, and even months. From Cardi B and Nicki Minaj hurling vicious insults online to Drake and Kendrick Lamar going head-to-head in diss tracks, here’s a look at some of the most heated and talked-about beefs of the year.
Cardi B vs. Nicki Minaj
In September, one of the most notorious rivalries in hip-hop flared up again, when Cardi B and Nicki Minaj traded severe insults online. The clash began after Minaj appeared to mock the sales of Cardi’s new album, Am I The Drama? Minaj took to X, with a since-deleted post that read, $4.99, poking fun at what seemed to be a reference to the promotional iTunes price of Cardi’s project.
That led to a series of firing posts: Minaj mocked Cardi’s pregnant belly and accused her of “fallin off the charts,” while Cardi fired back with cutting remarks about Minaj’s family and alleged cocaine use, even referencing Minaj’s brother’s 2017 criminal conviction. As previouslyreported, Jelani Maraj was convicted of predatory assault against an 11-year-old girl and was found guilty in 2017. He was sentenced to 25 years to life in 2020.

Sadly, the social media spat reached a new low when the rappers dragged each other’s children into the mix, drawing widespread criticism. The feud quickly escalated into deeply personal territory, prompting other artists, including 50 Cent, to publicly warnthat the situation was “not gonna end well” if it continued to spiral online. Thankfully, the beef quickly dissipated.
50 Cent vs. Diddy

Unlike many flash-in-the-pan celebrity beefs, 50 Cent and Sean “Diddy” Combs (P. Diddy) have maintained tension for nearly two decades. The feud traces back to the mid-2000s, when 50 Cent released a diss track called “The Bomb,” accusing Combs of involvement in the Notorious B.I.G. ‘s 1997 murder, a claim the latter has always denied, according to PEOPLE. Over the years, the animosity has persisted, driven by industry rivalries, competition over endorsements (such as vodka brands), and public comments.
The rivalry surged to new heights in 2023, when 50 Cent started weighing in on Combs’ legal troubles, following a series of controversies. The drama first intensified in November 2023 when Combs’ ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, accused him of rape and sexual assault. He denied the claims, and the lawsuit was settled the very next day. At the time, 50 Cent joked about Combs losing some of his business partnerships, posting on X that he would be willing to step in.
A few months later, Combs faced more upheaval when authorities raided his Los Angeles and Miami homes through HSI investigations. 50 Cent again shared his thoughts on X, suggesting he believed the allegations against Combs were legitimate.
“Now it’s not Diddy do it, it’s Diddy done,” he wrote. “They don’t come like that unless they got a case.”
In 2025, the rivalry gained fresh attentionwith the release of the Netflix documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning, executive-produced by 50 Cent. The series highlights sexual misconduct allegations and the legal troubles surrounding Combs, including his criminal conviction and prison sentence, and some interpreted 50 Cent’s involvement as an extension of their long-standing beef rather than a neutral project.
Even in isolation from official beef moments, fans and commentators treat the documentary and 50 Cent’s relentless public commentary as proof the feud hasn’t cooled.
Remy Ma vs. Papoose & Claressa Shields

In 2024, the Remy Ma and Papoose cheating scandal reached a peak when professional boxer Claressa Shields called out Remy Ma after the rapper accused her of having an affair with Papoose. But the drama escalated in May 2025 when Remy publicly criticized her estranged husband for allegedly delaying their divorce.
On Thursday, May 22, 2025, Remy went live on Instagram to address comments Shields made on The Breakfast Club, saying she had no “ill-will” toward the situation. The boxer said that while Papoose’s divorce had to be “taken care of,” she and the rapper were madly in love despite Remy’s “chaos.”
During an Instagram Live session, Remy insisted that she had already moved on from the drama and had requested that Papoose file for divorce. She even offered to pay for it if necessary. She added, “Everything is signed and ready to go,” putting the delay on her ex, and hinted that if Shields wanted to shell out cash for the split to be official, it would be “great.”
Papoose quickly responded on Instagram, sharing a screenshot of an email confirming that he had filed for divorce in New Jersey.
“This was so easy to file for divorce. Why hasn’t she done it? #pumpfaking,” he wrote. “The only reason I haven’t filed previously is for the sake of my daughter. She has to go to school. When two individuals behave like civilized adults, you can get a divorce peacefully/privately. And that was my intentions. But when a person wants to be bitter, & clout chase. It turns into a circus. Which can lead to an embarrassment for my child.”
He went on to call Remy a liar and claimed she had been trying to get back together with him. Remy Ma fired back on IG Live, calling her ex a liar for suggesting she wanted to rekindle their relationship. She also accused him of failing in his fatherly duties.
“Sidebar: and you haven’t taken my daughter to or from school since last year. But that’s allegedly why u got a place so close to my crib lol Double Sidebar: Like I always tell you…If u miss me, just say that, no need to start an unnecessary fight.”
Regarding the divorce filing, the rapper claimed that Papoose waited until she publicly called him out before filing.
“Did y’all see the date on that divorce filing? He filed that today. He filed that today. Who gave you the money? They gave you the money? You should thank me. Look at me doing you favors again…I got y’all lit.”
The drama continued to intensify that month, with Remy claiming Papoose blocked her on social media and threatened to put his son on her IG Live to prove he wasn’t an active father. After a day of drama, Papoose claimed he had written the majority of Remy Ma’s raps.
The feud may now be cooling down, as Papoose and Shields recently appeared on The Breakfast Club, saying they wanted to move on from the controversy.
Tamar Braxton vs. Funky Dineva

In August 2025, Tamar Braxton and Funky Dineva had a very public fallout following a night that almost turned scandalous and fatal. The controversy began on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025, when Tamar teased her new Heartbreak Retrograde EP, starring a married Mendeecees Harris, just a week after claiming she “almost died” and was “found in a pool of blood,” without giving full details.
In the promo, the 48-year-old singer was seen snuggling up with Harris, and planting a kiss on the reality TV star, though she clarified in captions that he was only a “FRIEND.” Still, the internet erupted with speculation about a possible romance. Rumors were fueled by sightings of Tamar and Mendeeces together at V12 Lounge, allegedly hours before her accident. The photos also captured Dineva partying with the singer that same night, but what started as speculation quickly turned into controversy.
Some internet sleuths accused Dinvea of having something to do with Tamar’s incident, which sent the YouTuber into a heated rampage. In a now-deleted YouTube livestream, Dineva referred to Tamar as “the lady” and claimed he had no knowledge of what happened after leaving the club.
On Aug. 27, Dineva addressed the situation on social media, expressing hurt over Tamar’s silence over the allegations. He also called her accident “a PR stunt,” claiming he was used as “collateral damage” to promote the singer’s new album.
He continued:
“@Tamarbraxton you ain’t even gone try to clear any of this up and tell these people I didn’t do anything to you…. I was accused of NOT BEING A FRIEND TO YOU. When at the end of the day, it was YOU NOT BEING A FRIEND TO ME!! I didn’t deserve any of this, and I’m deeply hurt!”
Tamar eventually responded, stating she didn’t want to fight with the social media star.
“No matter what he says, I love @MsFunkyDineva anyway. Had I known what was going on while I was in the hospital trying to recover, I would have said something. It’s terrible that what ever I DIDN’T say turned into all this. I just want PEACE.”
She clarified on Instagram that she did not fake her accident.
“I wish it was a lie. Or a ‘PR’ stunt. I’m devastated that ANYONE would suggest that. Please enjoy my EP. I worked very hard, and I spent my OWN money for my Tamartian friends to enjoy.”
A day later, on Aug. 28, Tamar shared a joint video explaining her injurieswith Dr. Amira Ogunleye, which included “multiple dental fractures, a nasal fracture, and even a tooth completely knocked out of the socket.” Despite this, Dineva continued to criticize her online.
The Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef simmered long before 2025, but dominated headlines this year. According to USA Today, tension began with subliminal messages in tracks dating back to 2013, including Lamar’s “Control,” which aimed at Drake.
But the beef really boiled up after the release of Drake and J. Cole’s 2023 track “First Person Shooter.” On the infamous track, J.Cole called himself and the two rivals the “big three” of rap, but that title didn’t sit well with Lamar. The Cali-bred hip-hop artist responded in Future and Metro Boomin’s March release “Like That” rapping: “forget ‘the big three … it’s just big me” and apparently referencing Drake: “It’s time for him to prove that he’s a problem.”
This led to Lamar’s 2024 diss track “Not Like Us,” which carried into 2025 with a ton of success and sizzling drama. The trackwon five Grammys in February 2025, and Lamarperformed it at the Super Bowl, showcasing his trolling skills, alongside Drake’s ex Serena Williams, no less.
Drake wasn’t silent, however. The Super Bowl performance came after Drizzy filed a defamation lawsuit in NYC against Universal Music Group over the fiery diss, claiming the lyrics and music video falsely portrayed him as a pedophile, damaging his reputation. TMZ reported that Drake alleged UMG promoted the track to devalue his brand. The case wasdismissedin October 2025, though Drake filed a motion to appeal that same month.
Nicki Minaj vs. SZA

Nicki Minaj also took aim at SZA in 2025. In July, the Grammy-nominated rapper publicly accused SZA’s manager, TDE’s Terrence “Punch” Henderson, of bullying her.
It all began on July 15, when Nicki called out Henderson, claiming he was “bullying” her on “Twitter for no reason.” The origin of the allegations was unclear, though Punch had tweeted about “Broken Barbies” earlier that morning. While the tweet referred to Lyric Michelle’s new song from his “Room Full Of Mirrors” group and had nothing to do with Nicki, she appeared to take it personally.
Shortly after Nicki’s rant, SZA responded on X with a cryptic message: “Mercury retrograde…don’t take the bait lol silly goose.” Though she didn’t mention anyone specifically, Nicki immediately accused her of subtweeting and went on the offensive:
“Go draw your freckles back on bookie,” she tweeted. “Bh looking & sounding like she got stung by a fing bee. dot dot dot Draws on my fake freckles.”
Nicki also criticized SZA’s achievements, targeting her record-breaking 2022 album, SOS, which went 9X platinum in under 3 years. The album made SZA the only Black artist to spend over 80 weeks in the Billboard 200’s Top 10, surpassing Michael Jackson’s record, as previously reported.
“B***h put out a whole new album as a deluxe to an already existing album that was out for like a year or 2, so the original album could break records,” Nicki said. “Like what in the insecure lack of morals & integrity you doing? I thought she was like a real artist? Girl bye.”
The two traded a few more barbs before the feud appeared to simmer down.
Eventually, SZA responded to one of Nicki’s tweets, calling her a “fake girl’s girl” and highlighting her alleged superiority. The TDE singer presented evidence that Minaj had requested features from her twice and even rapped lyrics SZA had written:
“Nicki … You absolutely know my music and what I contribute cause you’ve asked for features twice to no response,” she tweeted. “In addition to rapping my lyrics on feeling myself ‘Cooking up the bass looking like a kilo’? Lol ur having a moment … I’m not sure why, but be blessed.”
SZA also shared a screenshot of alleged messages between a team member and Nicki asking, “Is SZA recording right now? Got this hook, I think she would be dope on.” From there, the online beef largely dissipated.
In a November GQ interview, SZAaddressed the situation, explaining there was “no backstory” and that she didn’t even know Nicki personally.
“I don’t know her,” SZA began. “We have no connection to each other. There’s no backstory. Like, there was no through-line narrative. It was just like, ‘Roc Nation…I don’t know where it came from. That’s not even my place to correct a narrative that I don’t got s**t to do with. It was a little strange. It was very like, ‘Why?’ But also, you know, ‘I guess.’ ”

Dr. Diane Arnaout noticed parents held several misconceptions about childhood illness. She loved writing, so she decided to post pediatric medical advice online.
A decade later, the Fort Worth pediatrician mother of two boasts a significant social media presence. Several of her posts on Facebook have gone viral, receiving hundreds of thousands of views, with readers ranging from Tarrant County natives to followers in Indonesia.
“I started just being very honest and writing about what I was doing with my own kids, the data I had read, the numbers I knew, and just shared that with the community to help them make their own decisions,” Arnaout said.
Now, she’s taking the next step as a writer. Arnaout is publishing her first book, “Hiccups: A Pediatrician Mom’s Guide to Surviving Your First Year of Parenthood,” on April 2.
Part of Arnaout’s desire for the book was to put her advice somewhere more permanent. Social media is “a dumpster fire some days,” she notes.
But she also wanted to provide parents with a different kind of guide to the first year of parenthood. The book is a colloquially written, succinct, 300-page guide caregivers can open every night to get questions they have answered by a trusted source, she said.

“When I wrote the intro of the book, I said, ‘Don’t read this book cover to cover. Jump in and jump out whenever you need it,’” Arnaout said. “That’s how it’s organized. That’s why I wrote it the way I wrote it.”
The chapter titles echo the conversational, lippy style Arnaout has gotten famous for in her social media posts. Sections include “Breastfeeding is a real bitch,” “The absolute brilliance of your kid’s immune system,” and “‘Sleep is for the weak.’ — most babies.”
Each chapter is also structured differently than most parenting books. Instead of long, chunky paragraphs of text, Arnaout spells out her advice in a question-and-answer format.
Everything from the advice littered in the pages to the cover — Arnaout joked most parent guides look like textbooks — was designed to emulate a “conversation with a good friend,” she said.
“I hope it helps someone somewhere. I think it will,” Arnaout said. “I always say my goal is to help some parent somewhere (who) is feeling really confused and frustrated, and they just whip the book out and get the answer they need and sleep better that night.”
The Cowtown resident — who’s worked in Fort Worth her entire pediatric career — is not stopping at this book. Arnaout said her publisher, Bloomsbury Academic, has already given her a contract for a second book titled “Tumbles” and covers ages 1 to 3.
She hopes to write two future books covering school ages and the teenage years, enveloping all the help a parent may need for their kid’s entire childhood.
The books, including “Hiccups,” are dedicated to Arnaout’s children, Jack and Abby.
“You’ve taught me more than any book ever could, and I love you,” Arnaout’s acknowledgement in “Hiccups” reads. “Thanks for understanding why I wrote about your butt rashes online.”

With its $799 price tag, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is clearly aimed at a niche, high-end market and athletes. For most consumers, the purchasing decision likely lies between the Apple Watch SE 3 and the Apple Watch Series 11, starting at $249 and $399, respectively.
Despite its lower price tag, the Apple Watch SE 3 comes with much of the same software as the Series 11. If you’re looking for a straightforward smartwatch with essential features like step counting and sleep tracking, the SE 3 is an excellent and affordable choice.
While the Series 11 and Ultra 3 offer modest improvements over their predecessors, the SE 3 has received a significant upgrade from the SE 2. The smartwatch jumps from the S8 chip to the S10 and now features an always-on display, supports fast charging, offers better crack resistance, introduces new health features, includes a wrist-temperature sensor for advanced sleep tracking and retrospective ovulation insights, and more.

Although it’s not as flashy as the Series 11 and Ultra 3, it definitely stands out and packs great value, especially for first-time buyers and younger users. The gap between the standard and budget smart watches has never felt smaller.
Of course, if you want access to more advanced health features, better battery life, and a larger display, the Series 11 would be the better option for your needs. But, it’s worth comparing both models because the SE 3 might be all you need.

S10 chip: Both models come with the same chip, which means there won’t be significant differences in performance.
Always-on Retina display: The watches can display the watch face and time, even when your wrist is down.
Heart health features: Both watches feature high and low heart rate notifications, irregular rhythm notifications, and low cardio fitness notifications.
Wrist flick and double tap gestures: Both models let you do a “wrist flick” gesture to dismiss notifications and timers, and a “double tap” gesture to trigger actions like answering calls or playing music.
Emergency SOS: The watches can quickly call local emergency services, share your location, and notify your emergency contacts once you press and hold the side button.
Fall detection and crash detection: Both watches can automatically alert emergency services and designated emergency contacts when a hard fall or severe car crash is detected.
Water resistant to 50 meters: Both watches can be used for swimming.
Sleep tracking: Both models feature sleep tracking, sleep tracking notifications, and Apple’s new Sleep score, which gives you a number on a scale of 1 to 100 for how well you slept. They both also have temperature sensing, which can provide insight into your well-being by tracking nightly changes in your wrist temperature.
Cycle tracking with retrospective ovulation estimates: The watches can determine when you most likely ovulated in your previous cycle.
Fast charging capabilities: Both watches are fast-charge capable (up to 80% charge in about 30 minutes for the Series 11 and up to 80% charge in about 45 minutes for the SE 3; 15 minutes for up to eight hours of normal use for both models).
Find iPhone: Both watches let you press a button to play a sound on your iPhone to help you locate it. However, the Series 11 does feature “precision finding,” which means it can pinpoint the exact location of your phone.
Differences between the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch SE 3
Battery life: The Series 11 can last up to 24 hours (28 hours in low-power mode), while the SE can last up to 18 hours (32 hours in low-power mode).
Health features: The Series 11 comes with more advanced health tracking features, including hypertension notifications (detects high blood pressure), an electrical heat sensor, an ECG app, and Blood Oxygen app.
Screen and display: The Series 11 can reach up to 2000 nits, while the SE 3 goes up to 1000 nits. Plus, the Series 11 features a wide-angle OLED, while the SE 3 has a simple OLED display.
Size: The Series 11 is available in 46mm and 44mm sizes with aluminum or titanium cases, while the SE 3 comes in 44mm and 40mm sizes with an aluminum case. Additionally, the Series 11 is almost 10% thinner than the SE 3.
Color: The Series 11 comes in aluminum colors: Jet Black, Silver, Rose Gold, and Space Gray, and titanium colors: Natural, Gold, and Slate. The SE 3 comes in Midnight Aluminum and Starlight Aluminum.
Other smaller differences: The Series 11 comes with a depth gauge to six meters, a water temperature sensor, 1 nit minimum brightness (vs 2 nit minimum brightness on the SE 3), and certified IP6X dust resistance.

Dallas County Republicans will return to machine ballot counting during the next March primary. They aimed to do a hand count for election day ballots, but could not find enough workers or volunteers to make it happen.
In a Facebook post on the party’s page, Chair Lt. Col. Allen West announced that they will no longer pursue a hand recount and will instead contract with the county government to count by machine. In short, they could not recruit the 3,000 workers and volunteers they needed.
“We are currently tapped out at approximately 1,300–1,500 individuals for hand counting. With only 63 days until the election, that number is woefully short of what is required. The greatest risk would be to continue without having trained, qualified, and ready counters, which would place our election judges in an untenable legal position,” wrote chair West.
The Dallas GOP was going to be the largest organization in the country to try this effort. This ends an experiment the state party was watching to possibly expand statewide in the years ahead, according to Texas GOP Chair Abraham George.
“So this is an opportunity for us to learn what mistakes we make, if we make any, and also to see if it is possible, how much it’s going to cost us at the end of the day, you know, who can do it, and how many volunteers we need,” Chair George said in a recent interview for NBC DFW’s Sunday public affairs show, Lone Star Politics.
“I think when you elect clowns, you should expect circuses,” said Democratic Party Chair Kendall Scudder in an interview. He argued the hand-count effort was a fool’s errand to begin with.
“We’re going to use modern technology because it is the year 2025, and that’s how we will operate. We will have an efficient election to the best of our ability, and Republicans are trying to stand in our way of doing that,” said Scudder.
Early voting begins February 17th.
