Russian Youth Filming TikTok In Front Of Burning Oil Depot After Ukraine Strike Arrested; Internet Erupts In Memes

Two Russian women from the Sochi area, identified as 21-year-old Dasha Vladimirova and 19-year-old Karina Evgenieva, have been arrested by the Russian authorities for filming content in front of a burning oil depot. The Rosneft-Kubannefteprodukt oil depot in Adler of Southwest Russia suffered a large-scale drone attack by Ukraine. The influencers, along with an unidentified man, were filming content for TikTok. The video featured a background song, “Crimson Dawn,” by a Russian rapper, Endshpil.

The oil depot under fire near the Black Sea resort of Sochi caused suspension of flights briefly in the area. Per the BBC, 127 firefighters have been busy tackling the blaze. Per the Russian authorities, several other sites were targeted besides the attack on the Sochi refinery.

Reactions poured in on social media over the Russian influencer’s shenanigans with a dollop of memes. One user remarked, “When war becomes content—this is the tragic absurdity of our times. Burning oil, burning lives, and influencers chasing clicks. The real story isn’t just the fire; it’s what fuels it.” Another jibed, “Russians don’t like bad propaganda!” A third user ranted, “People would do anything for views today.” Yet another user online commented, “This kind of bonfire is not approved by the oligarchy of Russia… obviously.”
