What could happen to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ wealth? Experts weigh in.

What could happen to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ wealth? Experts weigh in.

The jury in the Sean “Diddy” Combs trial completed their second day of deliberations on Tuesday, weighing a verdict that could not only put the rapper and business mogul in prison but also strip Combs of a sizable share of his wealth.

The jury in Manhattan federal court is debating whether Combs is guilty of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of sex trafficking and two counts of transportation for the purposes of prostitution, all of which Combs has denied.

Combs’ vast portfolio features multi-million-dollar mansions in Los Angeles and Miami, a private jet, high-priced art and private investments, among other holdings, including his Bad Boy Entertainment business assets, which include his Bad Boy Records label.

Last year, before Combs was indicted but after his Los Angeles and Miami homes were raided by federal agents and the video of him physically assaulting former girlfriend Cassie Ventura came to light, Forbes estimated Combs’ net worth at $400 million, which marked a sharp decline from the outlet’s estimate in 2019 of $740 million.

The federal government could seize some of Combs’ assets if he’s found guilty and a conviction would increase the likelihood of success for potential civil suits, some experts told ABC News. If Combs is acquitted, they added, he likely would risk losing some income due to the stigma attached to information that was disclosed at trial.

Here’s what to know about how the Combs trial could impact his wealth, according to legal experts who spoke with ABC News.

What could happen to Combs’ wealth if he’s found guilty?

When federal prosecutors unsealed their indictment against Combs in September, the allegations called for the forfeiture of Combs’ assets in the event of a conviction. Referencing a charge of racketeering conspiracy against Combs, for instance, prosecutors said they would seek all assets “acquired or maintained” in violation of the law.

An attempt to seize assets is fairly common when prosecuting racketeering conspiracy charges, also known as RICO cases, Kenworthey Bilz, a law professor at the University of Illinois, told ABC News.

If prosecutors proved that Combs’ private jet was used to transport sex workers or clients, for example, the asset could be seized, Bilz said. Assets unrelated to the alleged crime, however, couldn’t be touched.

“The government would have to prove that assets were used to further the enterprise,” Bilz said.

In the event of a conviction, Combs’ punishment could also include financial penalties and a requirement that he pay restitution to some victims, Nikos Passas, a professor of criminology and criminal justice at Northeastern University, told ABC News.

“Whenever you have a very wealthy person convicted of this sort of crime, you’re going to have huge implications,” Passas said. “There’s serious damage that he’s done and he has the deep pockets to cover it.”

Combs could also face additional payouts as result of potential civil lawsuits, which would prove more likely to succeed after a criminal conviction, the experts said.

In criminal cases, prosecutors must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. In civil suits, however, prosecuting attorneys need only establish a preponderance of evidence, meaning they must show it’s more likely than not that a defendant committed the offense.

“A criminal conviction on some or all charges would certainly bolster civil claims against Diddy,” Clark Neily, senior vice president for legal studies at the Cato Institute and professor at the University of Texas School of Law, told ABC News.

What might happen to Combs’ wealth if he’s acquitted?

If acquitted, Combs will avoid the immediate financial penalties that would otherwise arise from the criminal case, as spelled out in the indictment, but he would remain exposed to potential civil lawsuits as well as possible lost income due to his damaged reputation, the experts told ABC News.

“For a high-profile artist and performer like Diddy, reputation is currency,” Jeff Apruzzese, professor of the music industry at Drexel University, told ABC News. “For him, right now, that currency is devaluing pretty fast.”

Combs could face greater challenges booking venues and establishing endorsements or corporate partnerships, Apruzzese said. Even more, Apruzzese added, Combs will face difficulty garnering invites to award shows and signing new artists to record deals, limiting his alternate pathways to income.

In 2021, singer R. Kelly – whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly – was convicted on nine counts, including racketeering charges tied to the sexual exploitation of children and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

While Kelly was found guilty, the outcome serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of preserving one’s reputation in the music industry, Apruzzese said, adding that “R. Kelly’s revenue pretty much dried up completely after everything that happened.”

David B. Allan, a professor of music marketing at St. Joseph’s University, said many fans may turn away from Combs regardless of the verdict – and they’ll take their spending power with them.

“I think the jury of public opinion has already decided, and they to a large extent feel like he’s guilty of something that they don’t approve of,” Allan said.

‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ won’t eliminate taxes on federal Social Security benefits as Trump says it will

‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ won’t eliminate taxes on federal Social Security benefits as Trump says it will

It does not.

At best, Trump’s “no tax on Social Security” claim exaggerates the benefits to seniors if either the House or Senate-passed proposals is signed into law.

Here’s a look at Trump’s recent statements, and what the proposals would — or would not — do.

What Trump has said

Trump repeatedly told voters during his 2024 campaign that he would eliminate taxes on Social Security. As his massive legislative package has moved through Congress, the Republican president has claimed that’s what the bill would do.

Trump said on a recent appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” that the bill includes “no tax on tips, no tax on Social Security, no tax on overtime.”

A temporary tax deduction

But instead of eliminating the tax, the Senate and House have each passed their own versions of a temporary tax deduction for seniors aged 65 and over, which applies to all income — not just Social Security.

And it turns out not all Social Security beneficiaries will be able to claim the deduction. Those who won’t be able to do so include the lowest-income seniors who already don’t pay taxes on Social Security, those who choose to claim their benefits before they reach age 65 and those above a defined income threshold.

The Senate proposal includes a temporary $6,000 deduction for seniors over the age of 65, contrasted with the House proposal, which includes a temporary deduction of $4,000.

The Senate proposal approved Tuesday would eliminate Social Security tax liability for seniors with adjusted gross incomes of $75,000 or less or $150,000 if filing as a married couple.

If passed into law, the tax deduction would last four years, from 2025 to 2029.

The deductions phase out as income increases.

White House touts impact

Touting a new Council of Economic Advisers analysis, the White House said Tuesday that “88% of all seniors who receive Social Security — will pay NO TAX on their Social Security benefits,” going on to say that the Senate proposal’s $6,000 senior deduction “is estimated to benefit 33.9 million seniors, including seniors not claiming Social Security. The deduction yields an average increase in after-tax income of $670 per senior who benefits from it.”

Garrett Watson, director of policy analysis at the Tax Foundation think tank, said conflating the tax deduction with a claim that there will be no tax on Social Security could end up confusing and angering a lot of seniors who will expect to not pay taxes on their Social Security benefits.

“While the deduction does provide some relief for seniors, it’s far from completely repealing the tax on their benefits,” Watson said.

Economic effect

The cost of actually eliminating the tax on Social Security would have massive impacts on the economy.

University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Wharton Budget Model estimates that eliminating income taxes on Social Security benefits “would reduce revenues by $1.5 trillion over 10 years and increase federal debt by 7 percent by 2054″ and speed up the projected depletion date of the Social Security Trust Fund from 2034 to 2032.

Discussions over taxes on Social Security are just part of the overall bill, which is estimated in its Senate version to increase federal deficits over the next 10 years by nearly $3.3 trillion from 2025 to 2034, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Administration officials have said the cost of the tax bill would be offset by tariff income.

Recently, the CBO separately estimated that Trump’s sweeping tariff plan would cut deficits by $2.8 trillion over a 10-year period while shrinking the economy, raising the inflation rate and reducing the purchasing power of households overall.

USA vs. Guatemala: Everything To Know, How To Watch Gold Cup Semifinals

USA vs. Guatemala: Everything To Know, How To Watch Gold Cup Semifinals

The United States and Guatemala will go head-to-head for the first time in almost a decade in the Concacaf Gold Cup semifinals on Wednesday on FOX (kickoff at 7 p.m. ET; coverage begins at 6 p.m. ET on FS1).

The U.S. and Guatemala haven’t played each other since the World Cup qualifying semifinals in 2016, when both sides won their respective home matches. That was the sole loss for the U.S. in their last 23 meetings with Guatemala (16W-6D-1L).

The U.S. have never lost at home to Guatemala, winning 14 of 15 games, and drawing only a 2007 friendly. Could that change on Wednesday? Here’s everything you need to know about the highly-anticipated match:

How to watch United States vs. Guatemala:

The match will air on FS1 and the FOX Sports app at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 2.

The U.S. At The Gold Cup So Far:

  • The United States is in the Gold Cup semifinals for a record 17th time, missing out only in 2000. They’ve made 13 semifinals in a row, the longest streak in Gold Cup history.
  • The U.S. seeks a record 13th Gold Cup final appearance and an eighth Gold Cup title. They went out in the 2023 Gold Cup semifinals vs. Panama and the U.S. have never missed consecutive Gold Cup finals.
  • For the second straight Gold Cup, the U.S. needed penalties to advance in the quarterfinals. After being eliminated b Canada in the quarterfinals two years ago, the U.S. reached the semifinals this year by eliminating Costa Rica on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
  • Matt Freese became the second keeper in team history to save three penalties in a competitive shootout, matching Tony Meola’s feat in the 1991 Gold Cup final.
  • With an assist and a joint-team-high four shots in the quarterfinals, Malik Tillman continues to shine. He leads the U.S. in goals (three), tackles (16), interceptions (seven) and recoveries (27) at the tournament, and he has six chances created, tied for third-most on the team.

Scouting Guatemala:

  • Guatemala was the biggest surprise of the tournament, advancing in the Gold Cup knockout stage for the first time and reaching their second Gold Cup semifinals (their first was in 1996, when there was no quarterfinal round).
  • Guatemala has not reached a Concacaf final since the Gold Cup began in 1991. They did make three finals of the Concacaf Championship in the 1960s, winning in 1967 and finishing runner-up in 1965 and 1969.
  • Guatemala are 106th in the FIFA rankings, the third-lowest of the 15 ranked teams in this tournament (Guadeloupe is not FIFA ranked). The only lower-ranked team to reach the Gold Cup semifinals was Guatemala in 1996, ranked 145th. The 1996 Guatemala team lost 1-0 to Mexico in the semis and finished fourth.
  • Oregon-born Rubio Rubín had Guatemala’s equalizer in the quarterfinals, and he’s the only Guatemala player with two goals at this tournament, scoring in each of Guatemala’s last two games. He has three goals in five caps since March, and all three goals were game-winners or equalizers.
  • These teams got here playing very different styles. The U.S. leads the tournament with 66% possession and a plus-41 shot difference. Guatemala’s 44% possession ranks sixth among knockout-stage teams; their minus-14 shot difference is seventh.

How To Watch United States vs. Guatemala:

The match will air on FS1 and the FOX Sports app at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 2.

The Dalai Lama signals China should stay out of divine succession process

The Dalai Lama signals China should stay out of divine succession process

The Dalai Lama said on Wednesday that the ancient Tibetan Buddhist institution he leads will live on after he dies, putting an end to speculation that he would be the last person to hold the role as he plans to reincarnate.

As part of celebrations marking his 90th birthday, the Nobel Peace laureate also signalled that China, which Tibetan activists accuse of suppressing their language, culture and religion, should stay out of the process of choosing the next Dalai Lama, according to NBC News.

The 14th Dalai Lama’s rare remarks came as anxiety mounts over who will follow him as the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism.

“I am affirming that the institution of the Dalai Lama will continue,” said the Dalai Lama, who has spent almost 70 years living in exile in India after fleeing Tibet, an autonomous Himalayan region of China.

“I hereby reiterate that the Gaden Phodrang Trust has sole authority to recognize the future reincarnation,” he said, referring to an organization he founded. “No one else has any such authority to interfere in this matter.”

The Chinese government responded`to the comments swiftly, with a Foreign Ministry spokesperson saying that any succession planning must comply with laws and regulations, according to Reuters.

The Tibetan spiritual leader made the announcement days ahead of his 90th birthday on July 6, after a conference of representatives of the four major traditions of Tibetan Buddhism in the Indian city of Dharamsala, the seat of the Tibetan government-in-exile.

It’s unusual for a living Dalai Lama to talk about his successor, the search for whom begins only upon his death because it involves reincarnation. But as the 14th Dalai Lama grows older, there is growing worry that a gap in leadership could be taken advantage of by the Chinese government.

“I think His Holiness feels the need to reassure people by basically letting them know that he is thinking about the succession,” Thupten Jinpa, his English translator of four decades, said in a phone interview from India last week.

Identified as a baby in 1937, the 14th Dalai Lama was formally recognized two years later. In addition to his role as spiritual leader, he served as temporal leader of Tibet starting in 1950, when he was 15 and China began annexing the region.

In 1959, when he was 23, the Dalai Lama and thousands of other Tibetans fled to India after a failed uprising against Communist rule, eventually settling in Dharamsala.

Since the 1970s, the goal of the movement has shifted from Tibetan independence to achieving genuine autonomy within China. In recent years the Dalai Lama has also stepped down from his political role, which is now a democratically elected position.

In March, the Dalai Lama said in a new book that his successor would be born in the “free world” outside China, so that the traditional mission of the Dalai Lama could continue. According to the Central Tibetan Administration, there are about 130,000 Tibetan exiles around the world, mostly in India and Nepal.

The Dalai Lama had previously said in 2011 that the institution of the Dalai Lama did not necessarily have to continue at all, and that he would leave it up to the Tibetan Buddhist community.

Since then he has received appeals from a variety of constituencies, and the “unanimous” response, Jinpa said, has been that there should be a 15th Dalai Lama.

“For the Tibetan people, his name has come to symbolize the nation,” said Jinpa, who has assisted the Dalai Lama with a number of books including the recent “Voice for the Voiceless.”

There is also concern that if they don’t select a new Dalai Lama, China could name one who goes unchallenged.

“Sadly, the PRC government probably will want to play a role, just as it inserted itself in the process of the recognition of the Panchen Lama,” Jinpa said, referring to the second-highest spiritual leader in Tibetan Buddhism.

In 1995, the Dalai Lama recognized a 6-year-old boy in Tibet as the 11th Panchen Lama, after the previous one died six years earlier. The boy was forcibly disappeared by the Chinese government three days later, rights groups say, and has not been seen in public since.

China then chose its own Panchen Lama, imposing him on the six million people in Tibet.

The Tibetan government-in-exile does not recognize the Beijing-appointed Panchen Lama, who rarely appears in public but pledged loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party in a closed-door meeting last month with President Xi Jinping, state media reported.

If Beijing also tries to name a Dalai Lama, “Tibetans would not be surprised,” Jinpa said. “They would be disappointed and annoyed, but I don’t think they would be surprised.”

The Chinese government says Tibet has prospered under its rule, and that it has improved infrastructure and social conditions and promoted economic development. It says the Dalai Lama is “a political exile engaged in separatist activities under the guise of religion,” and that the reincarnation of Tibetan lamas should be controlled by Beijing.

Reincarnation “must comply with Chinese laws and regulations” and “follow the process that consists of search and identification in China, lot-drawing from a golden urn, and central government approval,” foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said in March.

JD Vance Accidentally Reveals How Badly Trump Is Screwing MAGA Voters

JD Vance Accidentally Reveals How Badly Trump Is Screwing MAGA Voters

The Senate just passed President Trump’s big budget bill, which will cut $1 trillion from Medicaid to fund huge tax cuts for the rich. In a remarkable series of angry tweets, Vice President JD Vance downplayed the Medicaid cuts while saying what really matters is the bill’s massive funding for ICE and migrant detention. It was a striking and very revealing moment: Vance basically told MAGA voters not to think too much about losing their Medicaid benefits; instead, focus on how many migrants the bill will end up jailing and deporting! That scam—getting voters to hate on immigrants so they don’t notice that Republicans are massively redistributing wealth upwardis integral to getting the Medicaid cuts passed. But will voters buy it? We talked to Kristen Crowell, who is campaigning against the bill for the advocacy group Fair Share America. She explains how Trump voters and other constituencies are reacting to the bill in many communities with anger and fear; why the public is not receptive right now to typical GOP attacks on the safety net; and whether this can be converted into midterm gains for Democrats. 2. Burn

“Burn” is one of Usher’s most emotionally raw and unforgettable ballads, offering a glimpse into the painful process of letting go of a relationship that no longer works. The song beautifully balances vulnerability with strength, as Usher wrestles with the decision to end things, even though part of him still holds on. His vocal delivery is drenched in sorrow, especially in the way he lingers over lines like “It’s gonna burn for me to say this.” The stripped-down production, featuring smooth acoustic guitar riffs and subtle percussion, allows the emotion in Usher’s voice to take center stage. “Burn” isn’t just a breakup song—it’s an exploration of love’s complexity, where doing the right thing often feels like the hardest. 3. Confessions Part II

“Confessions Part II” is perhaps one of Usher’s most daring and deeply personal songs. It dives into the complexities of guilt, regret, and the painful consequences of betrayal. The narrative is gripping—Usher confesses to infidelity and reveals that his other woman is pregnant, a revelation that shocked listeners upon release. What sets this song apart is its raw honesty; it’s not often that artists pull back the curtain so fully on their personal struggles. The production is smooth and minimalist, letting the storytelling take the spotlight. Usher’s voice conveys genuine remorse, moving from regretful whispers to powerful declarations of accountability. The hook—“These are my confessions…”—is unforgettable and became a cultural catchphrase, cementing the song’s place in music history. Fans were drawn to how relatable it felt; even though the details were specific to Usher’s narrative, the themes of honesty, regret, and seeking forgiveness are universal. As a key track on his legendary Confessions album, this song helped solidify Usher’s reputation as not just a performer, but a storyteller who isn’t afraid to bare his soul.

4. DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love

“DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” is a feel-good dance anthem that captures the sheer joy of losing yourself on the dance floor. Teaming up with Pitbull, Usher leans into an energetic, electronic-infused sound that marks a departure from his earlier R&B-heavy hits. The song’s infectious hook—“So dance, dance like it’s the last, last night of your life”—immediately gets listeners moving. It’s the soundtrack to unforgettable nights out, where worries are left behind and the only thing that matters is the rhythm. The pulsating beat, heavy synths, and Pitbull’s signature party-starting verse create an electrifying atmosphere. Usher’s smooth yet commanding vocals balance perfectly with the uptempo production, making it impossible not to sing along. Released during the peak of the dance-pop wave of the late 2000s, the track became an instant global hit, filling clubs, weddings, and parties everywhere. Beyond the hype, the song celebrates the universal experience of finding joy, love, or even just freedom on the dance floor. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the best moments in life happen under flashing lights with music blasting all around you.

His vocals are full of raw emotion, effortlessly gliding between silky falsettos and soulful depths, conveying both vulnerability and passion. It’s that kind of love where you can’t eat, can’t sleep, and everything else feels secondary. “U Got It Bad” isn’t just about love—it’s about obsession, longing, and the magnetic pull of someone who has completely captured your heart. The song topped the charts and became a defining moment in Usher’s career, solidifying him as an R&B powerhouse. 6. My Boo

“My Boo,” featuring the incredible Alicia Keys, is a sweet, nostalgic duet that brings listeners right back to the memories of young love. This isn’t just a song—it’s a conversation between two former lovers reminiscing about the bond they shared. The chemistry between Usher and Alicia is undeniable, both vocally and emotionally, as they trade verses filled with affection and bittersweet memories. The smooth production, featuring a soft piano melody and understated beats, allows their voices to shine and the emotions to take center stage. The lyrics speak to that special someone who was your “first love,” the person who still holds a unique place in your heart no matter how much time has passed. It resonates deeply with anyone who’s ever had a relationship that ended, yet still lingers in the back of their mind. Released during the peak of both artists’ careers, “My Boo” became an instant hit, topping charts and capturing hearts around the world. It’s the perfect blend of R&B and pop, offering a timeless reminder that some loves never truly fade.

7. OMG

“OMG” is a high-energy, infectious club banger that marked a fresh chapter in Usher’s career. Produced by will.i.am, the song fuses dance-pop with electronic beats, giving it a futuristic, arena-filling vibe that was tailor-made for the booming dance music scene of the 2010s. From the very first “Oh my gosh,” the hook grabs you and doesn’t let go. The pulsating bass and hand-clap rhythm create an irresistible groove that makes it impossible not to move. Usher’s smooth vocals ride perfectly over the beat, while will.i.am’s production adds just the right amount of edge and playfulness. The lyrics are simple but effective, capturing that moment when someone catches your eye and leaves you completely speechless—in the best way possible. “OMG” became an international smash, topping charts and dominating dance floors worldwide. It showed that Usher could adapt to changing musical trends while still maintaining his signature charm and vocal prowess. Whether it’s blasting in clubs, at concerts, or through your headphones, “OMG” is one of those songs that instantly lifts your mood and demands that you sing—and dance—along.

8. Nice & Slow

“Nice & Slow” is the song that truly introduced the world to Usher’s sensual, romantic side. Released in 1997, this smooth R&B slow jam is all about setting the mood for intimacy and connection. From the very first whisper—“It’s seven o’clock on the dot, I’m in my drop top…”—listeners are pulled into a story of seduction and love. The silky guitar licks, combined with Usher’s velvety vocals, create an atmosphere that’s both sexy and sincere. The song isn’t just about physical attraction; it’s about taking the time to show someone how much they mean to you. Usher’s ability to balance vulnerability with confidence shines through as he sings about slowing things down and truly savoring a romantic moment. “Nice & Slow” became a massive hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 and solidifying Usher as a leading voice in contemporary R&B. Decades later, it remains a timeless classic—whether you’re looking to set the mood for a romantic evening or simply want to vibe to one of the smoothest love songs ever made.

9. There Goes My Baby

“There Goes My Baby” is a soaring R&B ballad that showcases Usher’s stunning vocal range and his ability to pour raw emotion into every note. The song captures that awe-struck feeling of watching someone you love walk away—or simply watching them exist and being overwhelmed by how much they mean to you. With its sweeping string arrangements and subtle yet powerful production, the track feels both grand and deeply personal. Usher’s vocals are the star here; his effortless runs, falsettos, and emotional delivery turn the simple phrase “There goes my baby” into a profound expression of love and admiration. The lyrics tell the story of a man completely captivated by the woman in his life, reflecting on how blessed he is to have her. Released as part of his Raymond v. Raymond album, the song became a favorite for weddings, romantic playlists, and anyone who’s ever been completely smitten. It’s a beautiful reminder of the power of love to inspire, uplift, and make even the simplest moments feel extraordinary.

10. Climax

“Climax” is one of Usher’s most emotionally intense and artistically daring songs. Produced by Diplo, it merges minimalist electronic beats with haunting R&B melodies, creating a soundscape that feels both intimate and fragile. Lyrically, the song explores a relationship at a breaking point—the painful, confusing space where you’re not sure whether to fight for love or walk away. Usher’s vocal performance is breathtaking, moving from soft falsettos to aching cries that perfectly capture the emotional tug-of-war. The production is intentionally sparse, letting the silence between notes mirror the tension and uncertainty in the relationship. Unlike typical breakup songs, “Climax” doesn’t offer easy answers; it sits in the discomfort of indecision, which is part of what makes it so powerful and relatable. Critics and fans alike praised the song for its vulnerability and innovative sound, calling it one of Usher’s most mature and sophisticated tracks. It’s not just a song about the end of a relationship—it’s about the complexity of love, the fear of loss, and the painful beauty of holding on when everything feels like it’s falling apart.

House begins work on Trump megabill, Johnson says vote could come Wednesday

House begins work on Trump megabill, Johnson says vote could come Wednesday

After a nail-biter vote in the Senate, the House took up President Donald Trump’s tax and immigration megabill on Tuesday, with House Speaker Mike Johnson suggesting a vote could be held as early as Wednesday.

Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” was approved by the Senate on Tuesday, with Vice President JD Vance casting a tie-breaking vote to get the legislation across the line and send it to the House for consideration.

GOP Sens. Thom Tillis, Rand Paul and Susan Collins voted against the measure, along with every Democrat, putting the vote at 50-50 before Vance’s intervention.

The legislation passed the House Rules Committee early on Wednesday with a 7-6 vote and will be debated on the floor after legislative business begins at 9 a.m.

Trump’s bill is expected to face some opposition in the House, particularly among fiscal hawks.

Republican backers of the Senate bill have touted its roughly $4 trillion in tax cuts and new funding for border security, plus the inclusion of key Trump campaign pledges such as no taxes on tips and overtime.

The legislation also guts Biden-era clean energy initiatives; slashes entitlement health programs like Medicaid and SNAP, which are intended to help the nation’s most vulnerable Americans; and includes a plan to lift the cap on the state and local tax deduction, currently set at $10,000, to $40,000.

The Senate version is projected to add roughly $1 trillion more — and $3.3 trillion in total — to the deficit over the next decade when compared with the version passed by the House in May, according to an estimate from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

The CBO also found that 11.8 million people could go uninsured over the next decade due to cuts in Medicaid, which emerged as a critical issue among several of the Senate Republican holdouts.

With a razor-thin majority, Johnson can afford only three defections if all members are voting and present.

Johnson also said Tuesday evening that some members were facing problems getting back to Washington, D.C., after more than 1,200 flights were canceled or delayed across the country because of storms in the eastern U.S.

Nonetheless, Johnson told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Tuesday night that he expects a vote in the House on Wednesday or Thursday.

“Assuming we have a full House, we’ll get it through the Rules Committee in the morning,” he said. “We’ll move that forward to the floor, and hopefully we’re voting on this by tomorrow or Thursday at latest, depending on the weather and delays and travel and all the rest.”

Having passed the House Rules Committee, the legislation will be subject to a debate and a vote on the rule, which could occur as early as Wednesday morning.

The House will then move to a vote on final passage, after which the bill will be sent to Trump’s desk.

Johnson and top Republican leaders said in a statement that the House will consider the bill “immediately for final passage” — with renewed intent to put the measure on Trump’s desk by July 4.

“The American people gave us a clear mandate, and after four years of Democrat failure, we intend to deliver without delay,” the leaders said.

“This bill is President Trump’s agenda, and we are making it law. House Republicans are ready to finish the job,” they added.

Trump told ABC News’ Chief White House Correspondent Mary Bruce on Tuesday that he expects the bill “to go very nicely” in the House.

Asked about the House Republicans who were unhappy with the Senate’s version of the legislation, the president said, “Well, I just heard that about the Senate, and the bill just passed, and it tells you there’s something for everyone.”

“I mean, we have — it’s a great bill,” he continued. “There is something for everyone, and I think it’s going to go very nicely in the House. Actually, I think it will be easier in the House than it was in the Senate.”

Trump disputed the CBO’s projection that the bill would cause 11.8 million Americans to lose their insurance.

“I’m saying it’s going to be a very much smaller number than that and that number will be waste, fraud and abuse,” he said, though did not say where he was getting such data or analysis from.

The House process began Tuesday with a meeting of the Rules Committee, which approved the bill by 7-6 after almost 12 hours of discussion. GOP Reps. Ralph Norman and Chip Roy sided with Democrats in voting against the measure in committee.

Roy was among the early critics of the bill, saying he was “not inclined to vote” for the legislation as amended. Roy has previously threatened to withhold support on critical votes, only to ultimately side with the president.

Roy said “the overall deficit number is not good” in the bill the Senate passed, suggesting it violates the House’s budget framework. “It’s front-loaded versus back-loaded, as we all know. I think it got worse. I think SALT got worse. It got more expensive,” he added.

After Tuesday’s Senate vote, Majority Leader John Thune said he and his colleagues had delivered a “strong product” to the House, but also acknowledged there may be more hurdles before the legislation reaches Trump’s desk.

“Well, we’ll see,” Thune said when asked about the bill’s chances. “I mean, you know how hard it was to pass it — I think the House, I appreciate the narrow margins they have over there.”

“I think we took what they sent us and strengthened and improved upon it,” he added. “And so I’m hopeful that now, when it gets sent over there, as they deliberate about how they want to handle it, they’ll find the goals that are necessary to pass it.”
